Mondays with Mimi - Taking the Time
By Mommy Mimi
This past weekend one of my best friends and her husband took a trip to Orlando and we kept their children while they were away. Keeping watch over three small children for four days was no easy feat. While cleaning up spilled milk, or wiping a snotty nose my mind often drifted off to places where my husband and I might visit in the near future.
See, I can’t remember the last time my husband and I have taken a trip sans kids. Sad, I know. Children can really take over a relationship if you aren’t careful to take the time out to nurture the relationship between you and your significant other. Something as small as a night out in a hotel or even sending the children away and spending some quiet time at home can do a ton for the dynamic and recharge you to be a better parent and spouse.
I have concluded that at least once a quarter we are going to send the children away and spend some quality time with one another. I think it’s necessary. I am in the process of planning a trip that we will take in July and hopefully set off a new tradition.
How do you squeeze in quality time with your significant other, or do you?
