Perfect Holiday, Family Fun With #AnnieMovie - Out In Theaters 12/19!
Last week we headed into New York City for some serious holiday fun! With my favorite blogging buddy in tow, my son Shaunsito, we braved the cold so we could attend the Kidz Vuz Holiday Party. What we were most excited about was visiting with Sony Entertainment and hearing all about the soon-to-be released remake of Annie.
Shaunsito and I had so much fun taking pictures at the #AnnieMovie booth and put on a little “Smile” of our own before taking a step back and watching everyone around us smiling themselves. How could you not?
Everyone and everything from the adorable Quvenzhané Wallis, as Annie to the hilarious Jamie Foxx, as Will Stacks to the amazing New York City scenes and spectacular song and dance numbers served as a reminder of why Annie is going to be the perfect family movie for the holiday season.
My family has watched all the Annie movies and we appreciate the different takes on them. In fact, I’ve even seen the play Annie in Peru should you ever want to hear “It’s a Hard Knock Life” in Spanish! But the one thing that I realized is that though I grew up knowing and loving my versions of Annie and have shared it with Shaunsito, he could never truly understand why mami knows all the words and songs and how come I cherish Annie so. But he will get to see another side of Annie - one with a more contemporary twist - that will be able to reach more generations and give families, like mine, another way to bond.
And though we both may belt out different versions of “Maybe” or “Tomorrow” the sentiment will still be the same. The movie will still speak to all of us, maybe just in different ways. So, when I go see this movie with my family I won’t be thinking about the differences, I’ll instead be much more focused on seeing it through my son’s eyes. And if his reaction to the trailers are any indication of how he’ll feel about the movie then I know we will be adding it to our collection of favorite family movies!
Don’t forget to treat your loved ones to the opening
of Annie in theaters on December 19th
for lots of music, fun & laughter!

Happy Holidays!
TELL US: Annie brings a smile to our face, what makes YOU smile?

Is bad that I’m more excited to go see this movie than the kids are? My older sister and I used to watch the original Annie every year. It was part of our Christmas holiday traditions. I’m glad they remade it for the younger generation. I know it’s going to have the same great message.
