I stink with finances. Period. I have no one to blame for this but myself. However, some time ago I decided that enough was enough. My past history of not knowing how to properly manage money was going to stop with me. I could not let it continue on with my son by teaching him bad financial habits. I had to changes things for the sake of my family which is why I’m happy to be working with State Farm and Univision on their Cuentas Claras initiative because it is time for me, and many of you I’m sure, to make that change as well!

The first step is being open to changing the course of your life. In today’s economy, everyone wants to know how to be smarter with their money, right? Are you saving for your child’s education, for a house, wanting to pay off your debt, or wanting to go see a movie without worrying about if you’ll make it to the less expensive matinee? Whatever the case may be we could all use a little extra money in our pockets. That’s why State Farm and Univision have joined forces for Cuentas Claras-a series of town hall meetings aimed at educating and empowering Latinos across the country about their finances. These Spanish-language forums are free and offered in select cities across the country.
