Part Two With The View!

Forest WhitakerPart II of my review - Let’s move onto the Wednesday, March 10th episode and start off first with the Hot Topics portion. They began with talking about Congressman Eric Massa and groping allegations. I won’t get into the whole thing but two comments from the conversation made me LOL: when Joy called Massa “Tickle Me Massa” (ha, ha, ha!) and when Barbara quoted Henry Ford from an interview when he told her “Never Complain, Never Explain” (I’m thinking that would apply more in an ideal marriage for a husband where his wife should NEVER COMPLAIN and he should NEVER have to EXPLAIN!) Told you, hilarious!

Also covered were the Oscar tribute snubs of Farrah Fawcett, Bea Arthur, Zelda Rubenstein, and Ricardo Montalban. FYI…I’m about to get up on my Latina soapbox…I cannot believe they left out Ricardo! Seriously, how many Latino actors have been included in the Oscar tribute in past years? I honestly don’t know but I doubt very many, if any at all. But to not include Ricardo was ridiculous. Even Whoopi couldn’t believe it! With 37 movies to his credit why are earth would he not be included? Listen, I love Michael Jackson but really to include him and not Ricardo, and the other actors mentioned above, is a travesty. Shame on the Oscars for that.

Lastly, the ladies brought out Forest Whitaker to talk about his newest movie Our Family Wedding, also starring Carlos Mencia, Regina King, America Ferrera, and Lance Gross. This movie looks funny as heck and I can’t wait to make a date night with hubby to see it! I’ll let you all know how that goes. I just love the work he’s done so I’m looking forward to seeing this one.

Their final guest was former wrestler and Governor Jesse Ventura who talked about his book American Conspiracies. I understand his concerns but would like to live in my naïve world and think that our government couldn’t possibly be responsible for most of the American tragedies in our history, especially 9/11 and the horrors of that day. That’s all I really want to say about that. I was living in New York when it happened and it’s still too painful to fathom.

With that said I’d like to give my Mami 2 Mommy Rocked My Socks Off! mention to the brilliant and very missed actors that were overlooked in the Oscar tribute – Ricardo Moltaban, Farrah Fawcett, Bea Arthur, and Zelda Rubenstein. And to the Oscars: Get your act together for the years to come and figure out how you can include everyone!

With all my mamí love,

Jennifer
