The Amazing Spider-Man

Submitted by on 07/11/2025 – 8:00 amOne Comment

I have been spending tons of time with my 5 year old twin nephews and 3 year old Shaunsito this past week and one thing that I have learned from them is that if you can’t appreciate a good comic book character then you’re not cool enough to hang with them.

So, you know I became the favorite auntie and mami when I told them all how much I LOVED Spider-Man! And I may have completely won them over when I added that I could shoot webs from my wrists but that’s a story for another day. Lol!

I really wish I could take the little munchkins with me to go see The Amazing Spider-Man but sadly it is Rated PG-13 so they’ll just have to wait a little longer. But that doesn’t mean you all have to miss out. It’s been out in theaters since July 3rd so head out now to see it and come back to let us know what you thought of the movie, enjoy!

One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man™. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves from a story by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which opened in theaters everywhere in 3D on July 3, 2012.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

    Jennifer-

So funny, Devin about 4 months ago learned about his first superheros and it’s bye bye Yo Gabba Gabba since. At first he was all about Captain America, running around with his mask and shield it was so cute. Now he is all about Spiderman and he is on a whole different level, trying to scale the walls, shooting webs he is so excited about his superheros and he even tells me I great to be Thor…hilarious and daddy is the incredible as he calls him. You know you got to laugh at that one :)
