Ice Cream – ¡Que delicioso!

I just realized that Fourth of July is right around the corner. Can you believe it?  I am in the process of planning my Shaunsito’s first July 4th celebration. With el sol out in full force nothing says summer more than ice cream. Helados.  Yum.   So that is why I want my son to have his first little taste of Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake this July 4th.

I grew up on Baskin-Robbins.  Everytime I have one of their ice cream cakes it reminds me of my childhood.  It’s amazing how food can transport you back in time and that’s exactly what it does for me.

One lick of ice cream and all of a sudden I’m Yenita again. The little tomboy who LOVED riding her Big Wheel. The sassy little child who would write all over her older sister’s Dukes of Hazard or Menudo posters.  Who literally defaced her other sister’s muñeca with markers. The child who had not one care in the world except looking forward to that next trip to get helados.
Ahh, those were the summer days!

And I know that all it will take is just one little taste and my Shaunsito will be hooked just like his mami.

And when he’s older he’ll remember that mami y papi took him to Baskin-Robbins.  And he will have the same sweet memories I have. Just as long as he stays away from mami’s Menudo posters, we’re good! 😉

*Baskin-Robbins is offering cakes for any occasion starting at just $9.99! Go on and visit them. You’ll be glad you did.
