Rockin’ Out with the Rock of Ages Soundtrack

Okay, before I begin there is one thing that you need to know about me.  I completely and totally LOVE MUSICALS!  I mean I could sit and watch them all day long.  As long as I can remember I have always enjoyed them.  Throughout school any opportunity I had to be involved in a musical I was.  I would sing and hum show tunes all day long.  So imagine how excited I was when I was asked to review the Rock of Ages soundtrack.

Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis.  I have to say I was slightly skeptical of hearing some of my favorite rock/metal songs redone as musical numbers.  But they pulled it off!  After getting over the changes I really got into it.

The musical is set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80’s. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

This music really took me back and I had so much fun with it!  I thought I was so cool pumping my “show tunes” in my car and just rockin’ out to the soundtrack.  Laugh if you want to but if you stick this in your cd player you’ll be doing the same thing my friends.

If you get the chance go on out and pick up the soundtrack and see for yourself.  Then let me know what you think.  Maybe then we can start our own Mami 2 Mommy rock band! Yeah, Rock and Roll, baby!

Just for fun check out the making of this soundtrack.

With all my mamí love,
