Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.
[easyreview title=”Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 3D” cat1title=”Acting” cat1detail=”With Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the lead roles there is a definite chemistry between them. I’m sure my wife would’ve loved this to have been more of a romantic comedy but sorry honey, this is a true comedy adventure. Depp completely steals the scenes with his humor and acting. ” cat1rating=”5″ cat2title=”Plot” cat2detail=”If you didn’t see the first 3 movies of this franchise you won’t be missing out because On Stranger Tides starts with a new beginning. I promise you won’t be lost. The plot isn’t complicated and easy to follow. It starts with a search for the Fountain of Youth and takes you on one adventure after another with mermaids, old love interests, and battle after battle all in 3D.” cat2rating=”4″ cat3title=”Scenery” cat3detail=”Yes the places in this movie are all pretend but the scenery was done so well it made it seem like real places and everything just popped. Every time I saw the ocean I wanted to dive in! It really helped the movie stand out.” cat3rating=”5″ cat4title=”3D or No 3D” cat4detail=”I haven’t seen a 3D movie since I was a kid so I was kind of excited to relive it. The sword fights and the parts with the mermaids were good in 3D but aside from that everything else would have done fine without. My buddy Eddie who came along with me for the movie had never seen a movie in 3D and really enjoyed it. Goes to show you that not everyone agrees with me but I would have to say No to the 3D.” cat4rating=”2″ Summary=”There won’t be any walking the planks on this movie! Take a chance and check it out this summer with the family.”]
