Kids Sports Physicals At CVS Minute Clinic & Giveaway

Summer is already flying by and with school starting fall sports will be, too. With everything going on you’re probably wondering where do I start and how will I get it all done? One of the items on my to-do list is to make sure my son gets a thorough sports physical before starting any of his sports.

A great way to do this and have your child evaluated is to visit your local CVS Minute Clinic. They are offering Sports Physicals for a special fee of $49. This is a limited time only offer that ends September 30th. After September 30th the price goes back to $59.

Some insurances cover sports physicals and some don’t, depending on the type of medical insurance plan you have. If you do not have medical insurance or you have to pay out of pocket for a sports physical this is a great way to save and get a great checkup. Otherwise, if your insurance does cover it you would just pay your co-pay for the sports physical.

I have used CVS Minute Clinic in the past for my family when one of us has been sick. It was great to discover that CVS Minute Clinic has additional services when needed.

On the morning of my son’s physical we arrived around 10am. He knew to go to the kiosk (no appointment needed) and sign himself in. The kiosk is a quick and easy way to sign in to inform the nurse practitioner that you are there. We were taken in right away.

Marlene, the nurse practitioner, greeted us with a smile and directed us into the examining room. I informed her that we were there for a sports physical and not an illness. She had me fill out a form regarding my son’s medical history and then proceeded to ask me questions about his medical history, as well as whether I would be going through insurance or not.

Once all the paperwork was done she moved forward to doing the examination. She did a head-to-toe examination that included listening to his heart and lungs, a vision chart and ears, nose and throat were checked too. She took his height and weight and had him do different stretches. It was a painless and smooth check up.  We were done within less than 30 minutes given we had no extra wait time in the waiting area outside. I received a physical examination form filled out and signed by the nurse practitioner, my receipt and a clinical visit summary to take with me. Marlene answered all my questions and I felt confident that my son had a great checkup and is ready to play sports.
