2015 Girl of the Year – American Girl, Grace Thomas!

What an awesome way to kick off the new year with American Girl introducing their brand new 2015 Girl of the Year, Grace Thomas. My daughter received a sweet surprise in the mail today from American Girl! The book Grace by Mary Casanova arrived. She was so excited that we have already started reading the book together.

My daughter has been a huge fan of American Girl dolls for the past 4 years. Seeing her face light up every time she receives a new doll is priceless. She loves reading about her doll’s personal story, dressing them up and creating new hairstyles for each of them. It is so much fun watching her use her imagination and create such fun memories. I have to admit,  American Girl does bring out the little girl in me too.

Beginning January 1st 2015 for only one year, the Grace collection will be available in American Girl retail locations nationwide. It will include a beautiful 18-inch Grace doll, French inspired outfits, accessories and toys that reflect her interests. Grace is an enthusiastic nine-year-old who is full of big ideas. She is an avid baker with and entrepreneurial spirit and is motivated to follow her dream for starting a baking business after an inspiring trip to Paris.

Currently there are two books available to add to your child’s home library – Grace and Grace Stirs it Up.  A third book – Grace Makes it Great is soon to follow in May 2015.

Your child can continue the fun with the Grace Sweet Shop App.   You can mix, roll, bake, and decorate French pastries just like Grace or invent your own fresh-from-the-oven goodies. The more you play, the more in-game recipes, achievements and tiny treat recipes you’ll unlock. And wait there is more!

Join Grace on her online journal here and you can find out how to attend Sur La Table cooking classes and Grace retail events at your nearest retail location.

Lastly, to bring Grace’s story to life, a full-length movie will debut on DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment this summer.

In addition, to further spread Grace’s message that working together is the best recipe for success, American Girl has created For Goodness, Bake! a year long fund raising initiative in support of No Kid Hungry the campaign to end childhood hunger in America from Share Our Strength. American Girl is encouraging girls to host charity bake sales in their local communities and donate proceeds to No Kid Hungry.

Of course my daughter couldn’t wait any longer to get Grace so we headed out to our local American Girl doll store at the Simon – SouthPark mall in Charlotte this past weekend. Grace has officially joined our family and has made one little girl very happy!
